ULCNA Update April 10 2020
To the members of the Upper Los Colonias Neighborhood Association:
First and foremost we hope this finds everyone safe, healthy and at least surviving this crisis. I am providing an update on some developments within your ULCNA Board and plans for staying connected in the future. It is your board’s intent that ULCNA business and communication should continue during the current health crisis.
On April 7th, the ULCNA board met via ZOOM to address several issues. The primary purpose was to have all board members test ZOOM technology as an option to ensure the Association and Board can continue to reasonably conduct our business during the current restrictions created by the Covid 19 crisis.
I can report that the technology worked quite well and all in attendance feel it is a good solution going forward. Several decisions were made by the board concerning our current situation:
- We will use ZOOM for the foreseeable future to allow the board to meet monthly (first Tuesday every month – 4:00pm Mountain time). Our next meeting will be Cinco de Mayo, May 5, 2020.
- This decision will initially be for the board only; on an as-needed basis we may expand the ZOOM invitation to the whole membership if we must have the larger group participation.
- For the board only ZOOM meetings, we will provide a meeting agenda to you, in advance, so you are aware of discussion items. Also, we may ask in advance for each of you to weigh in on various topics and give us your perspective.
- After each meeting, Board Secretary, Jeff Tetenbaum, will send a recap of key discussions and decisions and may ask for further comment.
- We look forward to the time when regular live meetings can be resumed, even if we must use social distancing guidelines.
These are some of the items we discussed at our first ZOOM get together:
We are on hold with the major initiatives that are pending – the Tarleton Project, the Zoning Application and the Taos Wellness Project. There have been no new developments of late.
The Development Standards Advisory Board gave tentative approval to a new house construction project on Del Norte Road
We will attempt to have the candidates for County Commissioner provide comments on their positions and goals and then provide them to the membership
Our by-laws provide as follows: Article IV, Section 8: “It is understood and appropriate that the Board shall manage the day to day affairs of the Association, but is required to bring alterations in general policies to the entire membership for consideration.”
The board was unanimous in our commitment to full transparency of discussions and decisions from your ULCNA board. We all believe solid communication and transparency is essential to our effective existence as a neighborhood association. We thank you for your interest and input moving forward.
Sincerely,
Board President – Kurt
